The router, app and trust services serve different purposes within one network. Explore what each component is for and how they are intended to work together.
What “Planned” means
This describes a development direction. It explains the purpose of a future component, rather than announcing software ready to download or a live service to join. The illustrations show concepts and relationships between devices, not the final product interface.
ARCnet Gateway
Your network starts with a router. ARCnet Gateway is being developed to make a compatible OpenWrt device part of infrastructure that you control. A single router will be able to operate on its own; several devices across locations can become part of a shared management system. Your home, small office or workshop keeps its own network, while you gain a common way to connect and look after the equipment.
An Android app bringing together two everyday tasks: connecting to your network and managing its devices. ARCnet Connect is being developed for access to your router, home or work network from a phone. It is intended for use both near your equipment and away from it, when an appropriate remote connection has been configured.
When different devices and people connect to a network, a server address alone is not enough. You need to know who is on the other end and what they are allowed to do. ARCnet Identity is being developed as the platform's certificate service, verifying device identities and helping manage access permissions. Owners can choose a service to trust or run their own for their infrastructure.
A network needs more than an initial connection: it also needs care. Supervisor is the role for setting up, maintaining and troubleshooting devices connected to one ARCnet certificate server. A technical support service or network administrator may perform it. In private infrastructure, the owner may be the same person handling maintenance.
Find and choose a certificate server, or deploy your own for your network. ARCnet Directory is intended as a starting point for deciding which service should verify your devices and how your infrastructure will be maintained. It provides a convenient way to explore and choose, rather than a mandatory centre through which every ARCnet network must operate.
Infometric Cloud is a planned support service for ARCnet users and the community. Its purpose is to help people turn the idea of their own network into an understandable setup and maintenance process. The service is preparing to launch alongside the public platform; its purpose and plans are available to explore now.
ARCnet is a noncommercial project, planned for open-source publication. The license for future releases has not yet been selected. Reproducible installation, documentation and verified workflows need to be prepared before a public release. Release dates and participation details have not been announced.
